Possession Disorder in Makassar Indonesia

This study discusses the occurrence of possession disorders in Makassar. The method used is a qualitative grounded theory with data collection using semi-structured interviews and focus group discussions. participants were three women, each whom had experienced at least two disorders. criteria for disorder refer to PPDGJ III. results indicated that parenting, role father figure, relationship mother, as well transmission abusive religious beliefs more likely causes Makassar/Indonesian context. abuse related parenting patterns than physical or sexual appears Western literature.
